I see the many directions my answer could take us, like roads leading to undiscovered yet familiar territories. It is so easy to get upset when I've asked her a dozen times to make sure everything was in her bag. I am almost amazed at how calm I am as I say, with neither anger or frustration, only two words:
I know that she understands because we have had this conversation before. Together we have set paths in our minds and discussed the links between the two words, exploring how our words and deeds ripple and affect others. While we cannot entirely predict the exact form of the consequence, we see and live them soon enough. The question we will discuss after we leave this chlorinated hall is simple.
What do I need to do differently next time to create a different outcome?
